Speedometer charts depicting the August 22, 2002 near-blackout event
in the electrical market of Panama (black needle shows the distance
between the current state and the steady-state stability limit). The
Panamanian System Operator took appropriate remedial actions and
subsequently documented them by using the real-time version of
QuickStab® with actual data from the Historical Information System.

On a summer afternoon in 1998, a large US utility transmission network
experienced low-voltage conditions. The black needle in the green
speedometer shows that the system had entered an unsafe region. The black needle in the blue speedometer indicates that the
conditions for potential blackout were approaching quickly, as it was
verified in subsequent studies.
